yes it will.  The Australian article you quoted is from January.  Since then (March) the AT&amp;T version on the same frequency as NextG (850MHz) has been announced (source: http://gizmodo.com/5494635/3g+ready-nexus-one-now-available-unlocked-on-att) for US$529 unlocked from Google (although Google has since shut its direct-sell store).</description>
