Welcome to Dr Ron’s Doctor’s Surgery.
After much procrastination, and swearing that I’d never, ever publish a blog, it’s finally happened.
Join me here for rants and raves, musings and speculation about everything related to technology in Australia.
I’ll be taking tiny steps at first (being the introverted, trepeditious soul that I am). Bear with me as I learn all there is to know about blogging.

Welcome to the blogosphere Doctor Ron! I am way impressed.
Although I have to admit I am extremely curious: Why have you chosen Blogger over any other platform?
I ask in earnest, as I have spent several months playing with Blogger, WordPress, and TypePad(one of the several Six Apart products) before setting up BlogWell; for me, as you know
WordPress won hands down.
So, how did Blogger win for you?

OMG!!! Lid, you’re a superstar. I never realised that you could run your own “DIY” Wordpress.
I’ll get on to that straight away.
There’s a reason why you’re the ex-pat cyber-goddess of all things blog.
The great thing I am realising about this technology is that with a domain name in front of the blog, you can move the blog around and people will always find what they’re looking for.
Standby as I bombard Clive the trusty Linux server with yet another .tar.gzip installer.
More soon …. cheers Dr Ron.

Working…YAY!!!
This is good to see.
I’m really interested in knowing what probs you ran into, and how you worked around them – how about you write a post on that? Please
– there is quite a bit of info around about WP.com, not much info, or scattered and difficult to find info, on WP.org.
And yes, I am the ex-pat cyber goddess; problem is, as with what happened to you, I am not aware of what info is filtering through to the land down under about blogging, and what is not (and feel rotten for not telling you about WP.org before you spent the time setting up blogger).
It makes writing about blogging for Aussies difficult, so if you have any ideas on what type of info ppl need (or any of your readers) I would love to know.
Keep going my friend, you are doing GREAT!

Thanks for the encouragement Lid.
I suspect most of the problems I had were due to the old software packages I was running on this development machine. I’ll document the process nevertheless. I intend for this blog to have a mixture of techy stuff with political narrative.
I’ll start a new thread for the installation issues I had.
Don’t stress about the Blogger account I set up… no harm done. It’s all part of the learning process!
More soon.
